Frequently Asked Questions About Dog Boarding and Training

What should I bring for my dog during Board and Train?

Please bring your dog’s flat collar and leash, their favorite toy, pre-bagged food for the morning and night, any medications they need and high-value treats. We provide bowls, beds and additional boarding items.

How long does the Board and Train program take?

At All-Star Dog Training Charlotte, we offer 15-day and 21-day Board and Train programs. The length of stay depends on your training goals and your dog’s needs, which we’ll discuss during your free evaluation.

Can I visit my dog during the boarding and training period?

Yes! We welcome scheduled visits where you can observe your dog’s training sessions through our viewing area. To ensure the best training experience, we recommend waiting until after the first week of training before visiting. This allows your dog to establish a routine and make meaningful progress. Visits are by appointment only, as your dog may participate in off-site field trips throughout their stay.

Will my dog be fully trained at the end of the program?

Your dog will learn many new skills during their stay, but their success depends on following through with the training at home. That’s why we include three, one hour long Private Dog Training Lessons to teach you how to maintain and build upon your dog’s new behaviors. Plus, you’ll have lifetime access to our Group Classes for ongoing support.

What Charlotte Dog Owners Are Saying

Prioritized My Dog’s Comfort
“We adopted two rescue dogs (Arlo and Opal) in early 2024. Not long afterwards, we realized Arlo suffers from anxiety when left alone, and our vet even described him as “unboardable.” We signed them up for a 2-week Board and Train. The whole staff there are fabulous! Sean, Ale, Ori, Sam and Greyson worked with them both with tremendous success, and the dogs LOVE them. They bent over backward to help Arlo be more comfortable. We cannot thank them enough for all they did for our pups, and we will definintely be bringing them back for more fun and refresher classes.”

We’re Speaking Each Other’s Language
“We took our 6-month-old lab mix Bailey to All-Star Dog Training for their 21-day Board and Train program. The difference was unbelievable! He’s so well-behaved and receptive to training now, and it feels like we can finally speak each other’s language. Sam did an absolutely phenomenal job of going over what Bailey learned in training with us after he was finished and the follow-up lessons she did were awesome and fun for us all. Would highly recommend All-Star Dog Training and trainer Sam to anyone!”

Otis Follows All My Commands
“We have a 3-year-old yellow lab (Otis), and he is high energy and impulsive. He knew his commands, but could not stay calm around distractions, especially on walks or with the ball. He spent 2 weeks in the boarding program with the SMS team, and he is a totally different pup! He follows all of his home commands and is doing much better in public spaces and on walks!”
